Letter from Shoghi Effendi to Charles Mason Remey, September 4, 1932
This is in response to a letter from Charles Mason Remey to Shoghi Effendi about the Metonic cycle which is a 19 year period where the phases of the moon recur on the same calendar dates and is useful for synchronizing lunar and solar calendars.
"Dear and Precious co-worker:
"The calendar instituted by the Bab and adopted with slight additions, by Bahá'u'lláh, and called the "Badi Calendar" is fully explained in the Bahá'í World Vol. III. I would urge you to study it as additional material, gleaned from Nabil's history, is contained therein. We are now in the fifth cycle of the Bahá'í era. Nineteen cycles constitute a period called Kull-i-Shay', i.e. "All things", which is numerically equivalent to 361.
"With my best wishes and the assurance of my continued prayers on your behalf.
"Your true brother,
Shoghi"
The Charles Mason Remey papers placed in the Library of Congress, vol. 18.
[Several of the volumes of Bahá'í World published during the lifetime of Shoghi Effendi provide a section on the Bahá'í calendar which was gleaned from the unpublished second volume of Nabil's Narrative. The first volume of this work, translated by Shoghi Effendi, is known as "The Dawn-Breakers". The false 'universal house of justice' ignores the set dates on the solar calendar, revealed by the Báb and Bahá'u'lláh, for significant Bahá'í dates.]
